Is It Wise To Use A Big SEO/PPC Advertising Agency?

It’s tempting when you see the noisy advertising of a big web marketing agency, to jump in and give them a go.

Somethings you may want to look out for are the boasts of huge client numbers versus trained staff.

One company we looked at boasted 4000 customers and 6 qualified staff in a major search engine. STOP 4000 divided by 6 = 666 customers per qualified member of staff. (not good).

a 40 hour week x 4.5 weeks per month = 180 – 20 hrs for lunch = 160 working hours with no breaks.

666 customers divided by 160 working hours  = 24 minutes per month, per customer.  Assuming everyone is in work.

So whatever the fee, what can you expect from this scenario?

In order to do SEO or PPC effectively, you need time. No time = no results.

So why does this happen?

When a slick salesperson cold calls you they are working from a script that’s geared to making you feel the need to act. They will almost always drop close you on price and trust, and that’s where the real issue is.

You see you are fitting into their business model and they have no intention of fitting into yours.

Expectations will be managed, you will enter into a long term contract and then you’re stuck.

Not all agencies operate like this just some, and they are the ones you need to keep clear from.
