Moving to Google Analytics 4, Are you ready?

If you’ve left this to the last minute, you will see severe disruption to your Google analytics.

Google Analytics UA3 will cease on the 1st of July 2023 and if you haven’t migrated to GA4, you will lose all stats from the 1st of July going forwards. This includes Conversions, Goals, Funnel data, visitor info etc. In fact, everything.

If you’re using Google AdWords, then your conversion tracking will stop and your AdWords account may be affected.

If you use Google search console, this will also stop recording data. Links to other Google-connected services will also be affected.

What to do?

Google Analytics 4 (GA4) is best setup using Google Tag Manager. Tag Manager allows you to record more granular data on your website and is highly flexible. It is quick to set up.

Once you install the Tag Manager code, you can create a measurement tag and that will get you up and running but it doesn’t stop there.

Without the need for a developer, you can then add Conversion tags and measure just about anything you want to know about.

If you are on Magento2, then we recommend

Install this module and you will be up and running within 15 minutes.

It all depends on if your website has a Data Layer or not. If not, then the above will create it for you.
