Penguin real-time update released according to Google? Or should that read Pudding update?

Google have released Penguin 4 which was billed as a real-time update? Mmmm!

Having Read Gary illyes’s  (Google spokesperson) post on webmasters.googleblog.com. I decided to reply with two questions.

The first statement / question

So to test a page that you’ve worked tirelessly to clean up in SERPS. Check its position, then fetch it from Google webmasters console. Should you see improvements? Have I got that right?

The second statement question.

So to test this great leap forward. Take a single page of your website that ranks for a not so useful key phrase. Check its crawl rate in the cache (make sure it’s not that often). Build some spammy links to it, say from India (count the number). Then fetch the page using webmasters console. If the update is real-time we should see a positional drop. Have i got that right?

Both questions were limited and quickly deleted from the public view. (see images)

Never mind! Not like they haven’t done that before.

There is no real-time Google update called Penguin anything.

I then went and tested my theories and I believe there is no real-time Google update called Penguin anything. Gary illyes 

my advice to anyone looking into improving their rankings is not to believe the spin on Google webmasters blog. Certainly, use it to create testing and then decide for yourself.

Don’t follow sycophants who work for Google.

Google is the world’s most commercial search engine. Business is business, but did you ever think Google could control yours?
